Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about visiting, ordering, and growing with us.
Visiting & Pickup
Do you offer shipping or delivery?↓
No — we are a pickup-only nursery located at 3922 Stanton St, Erie PA 16510. You can browse and reserve plants online, then collect them in person at your convenience.
What are your hours?↓
We're open Saturday and Sunday 9am–4pm, and Tuesday/Thursday by appointment. We're closed all other days. Our season runs May through October.
How long do you hold reserved plants?↓
In-season orders are held for 1 week after order confirmation. Pre-orders placed before the season opens are held until the 2nd Saturday after the season opens.
What payment methods do you accept?↓
We accept cash and all major credit and debit cards at pickup. No payment is required when placing your online order.
Can I request a plant you don't carry?↓
Yes — use our Plant Request form and we'll do our best to source it for an upcoming season.
Pond & Aquatic Plants
What pond plants are best for beginners?↓
Water hyacinth, water lettuce, and pickerel rush are forgiving, establish quickly, and naturally help balance water chemistry.
Are your pond plants safe for koi and goldfish?↓
Most aquatic plants are fish-safe. We're happy to advise on specific varieties when you visit.
When should I add plants to my pond?↓
Wait until water temperatures are consistently above 50°F — in Erie, that typically means mid-May.
Which pond plants survive Erie winters?↓
Hardy varieties (zones 4–6) like pickerel rush and blue flag iris can stay in the pond. Tropical plants like water hyacinth must be brought indoors or treated as annuals.
Garden Perennials
What hardiness zone is Erie, PA?↓
Erie is USDA Hardiness Zone 6a/6b. Our entire perennial selection is chosen to reliably overwinter here.
How long until my perennials bloom?↓
Most perennials bloom in their first or second year. Some, like lupine and delphinium, may take a full season to establish before flowering fully.
Do perennials come back every year?↓
Yes. Our perennials are selected for Erie's climate and return reliably each spring, often spreading into larger, fuller clumps over time.
About the Nursery
Are your plants locally grown?↓
Yes. We've been growing garden and pond plants in Erie since 2010 and select every variety for our local climate and soils.
Do I need an appointment or can I just show up?↓
Walk-ins are welcome Saturday and Sunday 9am–4pm. Weekday visits are by appointment — call or message us to arrange.
Are any plants toxic to pets?↓
Some are, some aren't. Check individual care guides (which note toxicity where applicable) or ask us — we're happy to help you choose pet-safe options.
